Ukrainian Seaports Handled 60 Million Tons Of Cargo In January July

Ukrainian Ports Handle Record Cargo Volumes

Ports Process 599 Million Tonnes in Seven Months

Maritime Corridor Transported 60 Million Tonnes

Ukrainian ports have handled a record 599 million tonnes of goods in the first seven months of 2024, a 17-fold increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), this surge in cargo handling is primarily attributed to the opening of the Ukrainian maritime corridor in August 2023, which has allowed Ukrainian grain and other commodities to be exported to global markets.

The Ukrainian maritime corridor has transported over 60 million tonnes of cargo in the past 11 months, with the ports of Greater Odesa handling over half of this tonnage.

In June 2024, Ukrainian seaports increased cargo handling by 30% year-over-year to 67 million tons. This growth is expected to continue throughout the rest of the year, with the USPA forecasting that Ukrainian ports will handle over 1 billion tonnes of cargo in 2024.
