Berlin native and former professional footballer Kevin-Prince Boateng has announced that he will retire from playing at the end of the 2022-23 season. The 37-year-old midfielder and forward, who made his Bundesliga debut with Hertha Berlin in 2006, confirmed the news during a press conference.

Boateng expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to return to his hometown club and retire where his professional journey began. He stated, "It's an emotional moment for me to announce my retirement. Berlin is where it all started for me, and I'm incredibly proud to conclude my career here with Hertha Berlin."

Throughout his illustrious career, Boateng has played for several top clubs, including AC Milan, Schalke 04, and Barcelona. He has also represented the German national team and Ghana, the country of his father's birth.

Hertha Berlin's sporting director, Fredi Bobic, praised Boateng's contributions to the club. He said, "Kevin is a true legend of Hertha Berlin. His experience and passion have been invaluable to our team. We're honored to see him return home and end his career at his boyhood club."
