Jermaine Burton Drafted by Bengals in Round 3, No. 80 Overall
Alabama's Second Offensive Player Off the Board This Year
Crimson Tide Duo Reunite in Cincinnati with Jordan Battle
Former Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton has been drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals with the No. 80 overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Burton becomes the sixth Alabama player to be selected in this year's draft and the second offensive player after quarterback Bryce Young.
Burton joins safety Jordan Battle, who was drafted by the Bengals in the second round, to form a Crimson Tide duo in Cincinnati. Burton's selection marks the first time two Alabama wide receivers have been drafted in the first three rounds of the same draft since 2011, when Julio Jones and Marquis Maze were both taken in the first round.
Burton emerged as Alabama's top receiver in his senior season, catching 49 passes for 602 yards and six touchdowns. He had a career day in the Crimson Tide's Sugar Bowl victory over Kansas State, recording 10 catches for 190 yards and a touchdown. His performance earned him Offensive MVP honors in the game.
Burton's selection by the Bengals gives him an opportunity to contribute immediately to a team that reached the Super Bowl last season. The Bengals are in need of wide receiver depth behind Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, and Burton could provide a valuable option for quarterback Joe Burrow.
